...at last!
Deicidal Satisfaction. Also, a very good album. Yes, they sound rather different sans Hoffmans, but the proof that Asheim wrote much of the music for the last few years is quite evident, and the new boys deliver it well enough, although perhaps not with the self-assurance one might have liked to hear. Still, its a huge step up from Sebastian Bach and self-proclaimed xtianic tendencies; they just need a little time. The production sounds vaguely muted, even muddy, but I suppose its tolerable, and the metal-elitists should enjoy it. Asheim's truly brilliant drumming threatens to outshine virtually every other sound on the recording, even Mr. Benton's vocals, as unbelievable as that sounds; although since it is brilliant drumming, what can one expect? That is not to say that Mr. Benton does anything less than deliver the goods straight up with a sledgehammer to the skull--he does that, and more. But still, muted...muddy. Unfortunate, in my opinion, but not unbearable. All in all, a worthy addition to Deicide's catalog, which I think most everyone can agree has been hit-or-miss in the past.
Lastly, to assure anyone who might have suspected the Deep Purple "Black Knight" cover was one of those "stunt" type covers, fear not. Its definitely been "Deicide"-ized, but even with all the hardcore flourishes, its a respectful cover that is surprisingly true to the original. You just have to hear it to believe it. However, and I am not terribly clear on this, but the song is apparently not included on every disc? Read the track listing before you buy!

On a wholly different subject, I would like to send a message to all those greasy, pimply, anime-aholics out there salivating over underage, animated poon: CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE A PEDOPHILE! You can argue all you want about differing cultures, metaphors and "animation styles"--the fact is that if it looks like a twelve-year-old girl, and you lust after it--that's right!--YOU ARE A PEDOPHILE!
Period.

I shall add more to this Shitlist of mine as time permits. Believe me, the human race has a virtually unlimited potential to unnerve, irritate and ultimately disappoint me. Its an untapped well that should keep this blog running for the rest of my natural life.
